The working principle of the hdmi display

Latest company case about The working principle of the hdmi display

The working principle of the driver board is to receive and convert signals.

How does the driver board transmit the display signal? As shown in the diagram below, when the power button is pressed and the computer screen lights up, the display signal has been successfully transmitted. The transmission process involves three main components: the computer graphics card, the driver board, and the display panel.

The signal starts from the output interface of the computer’s graphics card, then enters the input interface of the driver board. The chip on the driver board receives the signal and, based on the panel data stored in the chip, converts the image signal into a display signal, which is then output to the display panel.

In this process, the driver board converts the signal provided by the graphics card into a signal that can be accepted by the display panel, with the transmission protocol changing from HDMI to eDP.

In simple terms, the process of display signal transmission involves the signal starting from the computer, passing through the driver board for conversion, and then entering the display panel.

During this signal conversion process, only the form of signal transmission is changed; the driver board cannot alter the signal's resolution or refresh rate.

For example, if a 1080p signal comes in through the HDMI interface, it will also exit through the eDP interface as 1080p, and the image displayed on the panel will be 1080p.

Even if the panel supports a maximum resolution of 4K, if the video signal entering the panel is 1080p, the final image displayed will still be 1080p.
